Vaccines can protect you from some infections that pass on through sex. They are free at the clinic for people who are eligible.
Introduction
The team checks which vaccines are right for you at your visit. This depends on your age, your sexual health and the vaccines you already had.
Vaccines we can offer
- Hepatitis A, a liver infection that can pass on through sex and through food or water
- Hepatitis B, a liver infection that can pass on through sex and blood
- HPV, which protects against the types of HPV that cause most genital warts and some cancers
- Mpox, for people who have a higher chance of catching it
- Gonorrhoea, for people who have a higher chance of catching it
Courses and boosters
Some vaccines need more than one dose. Keep a note of your doses, and ask us when your next one is due.
Side effects
Most people have no problems. Some have a sore arm, a mild fever or feel tired for a day or two. Tell the team if you have had a bad reaction to a vaccine before.
Ask about vaccines at your next visit. You can have them at the same appointment as a test. The team will keep a record of every dose that you have, and remind you when the next one is due.
